Health and Fitness ? Fear and Anxiety Dissolve Through EFT ...

Being fearful does not necessarily mean you?re in danger. What it does mean is ? you?re feeling fear and anxiety. You can actually release these emotions by using the new, easy energy tapping method EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques).

Unless you?re actually threatened by a crisis situation, a lot of the time you don?t need to be frightened. Fear wastes a lot of your energy and keeps you stuck. So does its cousin, anxiety, or worry.

Some people are ?born worriers?. Other people find that their anxiety load creeps up as life circumstances change, and solutions seem hard to come by.

The good news about EFT tapping is not just good, it?s GREAT news. This method lets you take charge of your emotions, lets you lessen your fear and anxiety, within minutes. You might even use EFT tapping daily for a period, to get rid of habitual worrying.

Using this simple technique enables you to feel calm and peaceful, even if you?ve worried for years (although conditions such as a severe anxiety disorder may take, say, 12 EFT sessions with an EFT practitioner.)

How do you do EFT?

EFT is like self-help acupuncture without the needles. You tap on key acupressure points while you briefly focus on a specific topic.

A few minutes? tuition on how to do this simple tap-and-talk process can free you up from unnecessary fear on many fronts. You address your fears one at a time, specifically. When you use EFT correctly, the intensity of your unnecessary fear and anxiety simply dissolves.

BUT IF YOUR FEAR IS WELL GROUNDED, your natural caution will not go away. Tapping does not make people stupid. You?ll just get calmer. Then you can think more clearly about the best things to doto stay safe.

What fears can EFT help with?

First, there are the familiar nagging fears that have built up in your brain?s neural pathways over time, in a conditioned reflex loop.

You know these fears: ?What if I can?t -?, ?I don?t deserve -?, ?I could never-?, ?Other people can but I can?t-?, ?Nobody will listen to me -?, ?I?ll probably miss something important -?, ?What if they don?t like me -? and so on.

Then there are more specific fears: fear of spiders, fear of going to parties, fear of looking like an idiot if you don?t know something, and so on.

Then there?s the calamity variety: ?What if? the floor caves in??, ?I can?t relax for a second, there could be danger here?, ?Some disaster is always around the corner so I?d better be ready ?, and so on. (I?m assuming you don?t live in an earthquake zone? If you do, I?d recommend even more strongly that you learn EFT!)

Sometimes such fears are so embedded they?re like wallpaper of the mind. But that doesn?t necessarily make them true in themselves, even if you have proved them in the past. Beliefs tend to be self-fulfilling.

EFT coaches have helped hundreds of U.S. war veterans dissolve recurring horrendous fears and other symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. This has led to major scientific studies on EFT, including one by the Walter Reed Army Medical Centre.

?Well ? I?d have to see it?(or tap it)?to believe it.?

Yes, you would, because EFT?s results can be so effective, they are often amazing. Permanent improvements in emotions, outlook, behaviour can amaze even EFT practitioners, who typically report a success rate in the 90%s with their clients and students.

Most people approach the tapping technique as sceptics, and rightly so. People are just not used to this level of control over their emotions. The process tends to work anyway, because it does not depend on belief.

New questions

Finding that you can feel peaceful instead of being so anxious will bring up some new questions:

? ?Who would I be if I wasn?t a worrier??,

? ?How would I fill in my time if I didn?t spend so much time worrying??

? ?What would my life look like without worry and fear??

Again, EFT used correctly can come to the rescue and neutralise these worries too.

Are you game to try life without unnecessary fear and anxiety? Well ? maybe this is literally in your own hands, now that you know about EFT.

Annie O?Grady, a Certified EFT coach, is the author of ?Tapping Your Troubles Away with EFT?, soon to be released on the Internet. This book is a sound introduction to EFT. It teaches techniques, and includes case examples, the history of EFT, and the science behind the method. Finance And Business | What a Structured Settlement Means to You ...

You?ve been granted a structured settlement. Now what? What does it mean? How does it work? And what can and can?t you do about it? These are all valid questions and concerns and this article will hopefully answer them for you.

Structured settlements first originated in Canada, with the Thalidomide law suits of the late 1960?s and 70?s. The families of 115 children affected with severe birth defects from their mothers having taken the drug were granted an undisclosed amount. This amount as to be paid over a number of years to the families by the drug company that had sold the drug, as well as the pharmaceutical company that developed the drug in the first place. A structured settlement is simply one that is paid in a set amount on a regular periodic basis to an individual by another individual or a company representing an individual.

According to the IRS, structured settlements can only be termed as such when the payee is a company, or a company representing an individual, such as an insurance company. Since your employer?s insurance company is the one ultimately paying out your worker?s compensation claim, your monthly payments from them therefore, qualify as a structured settlement. The money that your grandma gives you every year on your birthday does not. The other defining feature of a structured settlement is that there must be a binding legal agreement in place between the payee and the one being paid. So, your brother-in-law?s handshake promising to repay you that beer tab over the course of the next four pay days doesn?t qualify THAT as a structured settlement, either.

What you can expect is a bunch of legal forms to fill out, or at least to sign. Lawyers thrive on the amount of paperwork they can cram into a legally binding agreement of any kind, and structured settlements are no different. As part of this paperwork, you may be given the choice to receive your structured settlement regular payments as a direct deposit into your bank account. This will mean having to have your banking information handy. It will also mean that you?ll have to remember to check on the account at the appointed tie, to ensure that there are no difficulties with the payment. You?ll also need to obtain contact information from ?the other side? of the table, just in case you do have any troubles with receiving your payment. Having an account manager or other individual to contact when the payment is late, or is somehow missed is vital to you and to the company as well. They?ve promised to pay you, and if they don?t, they are in legal troubles. No company wants legal troubles over an accounting err.

The money is yours. There are no restrictions as to what you can and can?t spend it on, unless specified in the settlement agreement. A settlement on behalf of a child, for example, may specify that the money must be used for the child?s education, or that it must simply be kept in trust until the child is of age to take responsibility for it. There are certain taxes that apply to structured settlement payments ? income taxes, for example. And some structured payments may be able to be transferred to another individual in the event of death or disability. Again, much of this depends on the original agreement that accompanies the settlement.

Flight cancelled after white powder found on plane in Boston (Reuters)

CONWAY, Mass (Reuters) ? A JetBlue Airways flight to Florida was canceled and two flight attendants were checked at the hospital as a precaution after a suspicious powder was found aboard a plane at Boston's Logan Airport on Tuesday.

Airline staff were on board preparing for the scheduled 6:40 a.m. departure of Flight 465 to Ft. Myers, Florida when a female flight attendant opened a tissue box and found a "suspicious white, powdery substance" emerging, Massport spokesman Phil Orlandella told Reuters.

No passengers were on board at the time.

JetBlue rebooked all passengers on other flights, Orlandella said.

Two flight attendants were taken to an area hospital as a precaution and later found to be in good health, JetBlue spokesman Mateo Lleras said.

Massport fire and rescue teams as well as state police investigated the incident and found no hazardous materials present, Orlandella said.

FDA cooking up helpful new nutrition facts label

(AP) ? Uncle Sam wants you to know more about what you're eating.

The Food and Drug Administration wants to revise the nutrition facts label ? that breakdown of fats, salts, sugars and nutrients on packaging ? to give consumers more useful information and help fight the national obesity epidemic.

A proposal is in the works to change several parts of the label, including more accurate serving sizes, a greater emphasis on calories and a diminished role in the daily percent values for substances like fat, sodium and carbohydrates.

It's the latest attempt to improve the way Americans view food and make choices about what they eat, and comes in the wake of major advances in nutrition regulations by the Obama administration.

Calorie counts are popping up on menus of chain restaurants across the country and the longstanding food pyramid was toppled this year by the U.S. government in favor of a plate that gives a picture of what a healthy daily diet looks like.

The struggle to redesign the labels on every box, can and carton has been in the works since 2003, and some of the changes could be proposed as soon as this year. FDA Deputy Commissioner Michael Taylor cautions not to expect a grand overhaul, but the revamped label does mark a shift to create a more useful nutritional snapshot of foods millions of Americans consume every day.

"There's no question obesity is a central public health concern that the nutrition facts panel can play a role in. It's obviously not a magic wand but it can be an informative tool," said Taylor.

For two decades, the black and white label has offered a glance of nutritional information about what's inside each package, including calories and grams of fats, cholesterol, protein and carbohydrates. Critics have complained it's confusing and doesn't offer a simpler way to make a choice about whether it's good for them ? a judgment the industry wants to leave to consumers.

The proposed label is likely to produce several changes, said Taylor.

For starters, portion sizes should better reflect reality. The 2.5 servings listed on a 20-ounce soda bottle are typically slurped up by an individual in one sitting rather than split between a couple and their child. The same goes for a can of soup, where one serving is often listed as two-fifths of a can.

The FDA is also likely to find a way to emphasize calories, which many people rely on for weight control. Other items likely to disappear or change because they haven't proven useful include calories from fat and the daily percent value numbers that show how much what an average diet should include.

Still, some wish the revisions would go further to list information about the amount of preservatives in a food and the degree of processing it has undergone. Health activists say such changes could help trim waistlines in America.

The food industry wouldn't like to see many major changes. The current label is easily recognizable and adaptable to food packages of different sizes because it's simple, said Regina Hildwine, director for science, policy, labeling and standards at the Grocery Manufacturers Association.

Hildwine says her Washington-based group, which represents 300 top food, beverage companies ? including Nestle, General Mills Inc., and Coca-Cola Co. ? has provided extensive feedback to the FDA in the run-up to their proposed rule.

"I personally talk with FDA on a regular basis to share views and get information and sometimes they call me," said Hildwine.

Advocates believe that the government and industry are too cozy, and that food companies are reluctant to overhaul food labels for fear of their profits being hurt.

"It's against the industry's interest to help the consumer make better choices because then they'll sell less food," said Kelly Brownell, director of Yale University's Rudd Center for Food Policy and Obesity. "If the population is going to lose weight, it's going to eat less food, so that means less business for them."

There's no shortage of ideas on how to improve the label. A recent contest by the University of California, Berkeley and Good Magazine yielded 60 colorful new designs.

A familiar theme popped up: red, yellow and green colors of a traffic light to indicate whether a food is good or bad. Another offered thumbs up and thumbs down on nutrients, depending on how much.

Manufacturers don't think a stoplight system would work because most foods have a mix of nutrients and diets are not the same for everyone, Hildwine said.

"A color-coded scheme would not be as helpful to consumers as a fact-based approach," she said.

The winning design was created by Renee Walker, whose label is topped by a large blocks of color above the nutrient listing, with each block representing an ingredient. For example, a jar of peanut butter would typically have a big box for peanuts, a smaller box for sugar, and other blocks for other ingredients.

The FDA has long avoided putting qualitative judgments about food on labels in favor of a simple listing of macronutrients, said contest judge and Center for Science in the Public Interest executive director Michael Jacobson.

Before the FDA first introduced the nutrition facts label in 1992, choosy Americans puzzled over a tiny printed listing of ingredients on packages to help determine what to feed their families.

As a result, Americans often relied on gut feelings to choose their diets at a time when the obesity epidemic was taking root.

Dr. David Kessler served as FDA commissioner during what he called a "battle royale" over the first label.

"Every change is a battle with the food industry," said Kessler. "The food label that we implemented ? did it harm the food industry in any way? No. In fact, I'm sure they profited from it."

Kessler, now a University of California, San Francisco professor and author, says the label is due for an update.

Like many experts, he'd like to see the new label address how much ingredients are processed.

A pie-chart could, for example, show how much of a jar of tomato sauce is from actual tomatoes, and how much is sugar, fats, sodium, water and whatever else may be in it.

Not that all food processing is bad. Skim milk and lean meat have been skimmed and trimmed of fat. Frozen vegetables are typically captured at peak ripeness without introduction of preservatives or sodium.

But many highly processed foods are stuffed with unpronounceable and nutritionally questionable substances. Add fat, sugar and salt, as processed foods so often do, Kessler said, and you have the perfect recipe for an American-style obesity epidemic.

"Twenty years ago, you would have maybe 20 to 30 chews per bite of food," said Kessler. "Today, food is so highly processed and so stimulating it goes down in a wash (of saliva), like we're eating adult baby food."

Katia ramps up power, but seen missing East Coast (Reuters)

MIAMI (Reuters) ? Hurricane Katia powered up to a major Category 3 storm on Monday, but was expected to veer away from the East Coast later this week, avoiding a direct hit on a seaboard already battered by earlier Hurricane Irene.

The U.S. National Hurricane Center warned however that U.S. East Coast beaches should still watch out in the coming week for large swells generated by Katia which could cause life-threatening coastal surf and rip currents.

By late Monday afternoon, Katia's winds had strengthened to 115 miles per hour, making it a Category 3 hurricane on the five-step Saffir-Simpson intensity scale as it tracked northwestward on a path over the ocean between Bermuda and the Caribbean, the Miami-based center said.

It said additional intensification was forecast through Tuesday followed by little predicted change on Wednesday.

NHC hurricane specialist Robbie Berg told Reuters the greatest threat from Katia for the U.S. eastern seaboard was likely to be the large swells, and resulting dangerous coastal surf and currents, she generated on her path.

"Even though these storms may stay offshore, they still can be a deadly threat, especially to people going to the beach," Berg said. "It may be a beautiful nice day out and you may just not know that there are rip currents there that can pull you out to sea," he added.

Forecasters and residents of the U.S. Atlantic seaboard have been keeping an anxious eye on Katia after Hurricane Irene raked up the East Coast from the Carolinas to Maine last weekend. It killed at least 40 people and caused extensive flooding, especially in New Jersey and Vermont.

Katia, the second hurricane of the June-through-November Atlantic season, has kept forecasters guessing for days about its potential threat to the United States.

Berg said the latest five-day forecast predicted the hurricane would swing north and then northeastward from Thursday in between Bermuda and the U.S. mainland, pushed away from the East Coast by a developing low pressure trough.

This would guide the storm around a ridge of high pressure in the central Atlantic known as the Bermuda High.

"The steering flow right now is pushing the storm to the northwest but once it gets closer to the East Coast, it'll start feeling the effects of that trough a little bit more, and it's going to make that sharp turn around the Bermuda High and head out northeastward over the open Atlantic," Berg said.

ANOTHER TROPICAL WAVE MOVING WESTWARDS

At 5 p.m. (2100 GMT), Katia's center was located about 495 miles south of Bermuda, the mid-Atlantic British overseas territory that despite its small size is a global reinsurance hub.

Berg said there was still a one in 10 chance parts of the East Coast could experience tropical storm-force winds when Katia passed well offshore later this week, especially jutting coastal areas like North Carolina's Outer Banks and Cape Cod in Massachusetts. Bermuda could also experience such winds.

Elsewhere, Tropical Storm Lee tested New Orleans' flood defenses over the weekend, and on Monday its weakened remnants threatened to dump heavy rain on states from Texas to Florida.

The September 10 peak of the annual Atlantic hurricane season was approaching, and hurricane spotters were already watching another tropical wave, located southwest of the Cape Verde Islands off Africa.

This was moving westwards and the NHC gave it a "high" chance of becoming a tropical cyclone in the next 48 hours.

Forecasters have predicted a very active 2011 Atlantic season with between eight and 10 hurricanes, above the long-term June to November average of six to seven hurricanes.

Purchasing Those Great Party Toy Story Costumes

If you?re thinking of purchasing Toy Story costumes, among the best steps is find customer reviews of the costumes in question. Don?t assume the descriptions given on the online business site are 100% correct. Also, a common gripe about costumes bought online our out of catalogs is that the sizing is not really accurate. A reputable vendor will frequently provide hints about whether it?s best to buy bigger or smaller than normal, and a really great seller will encourage customers to provide sizing suggestions in their reviews.

Most of the reputable online retailers these days provide a venue for people who have ordered the product to provide feedback, either using ratings or complete reviews. Finding real purchasers? reviews about those Toy Story costumes you are thinking about can be an absolute godsend! The buyers will give you the straight dope, warts and all, and most importantly feedback about probably the worst issue of all: size problems! The last thing you want is to buy your customary size, then find out that their ?M? is actually more like an ?S?. A too-big costume is a pain; a too-small costume will frequently be a waste of money, unless you?ve got time to exchange it.

Don?t neglect to give yourself enough time to do that online purchase. The last thing you need would be to buy your customary size, then find out that their ?S? is actually more like an ?XS?, and not have enough time to send back those costumes for a replacement. That is the most frequent complaint of online purchasers, other than plain old poor workmanship. Should you make a point of reading the purchasers? reviews about your costume (you are buying from a dealer that allows reviews, right?) you can avoid this problem. Still, give yourself time to exchange, just in case.

Purchasing a costume online may very well be a gratifying experience. There are lots of online vendors, so the competition between them keeps the prices low for you. The bigger online vendors make extensive purchaser feedback available: purchaser reviews, ratings, sizing tips, even customer photos that allows you to see what your selected costume looks like on a ?real? person, not that model with the flawless physique. Shipping is fast, selection is incredible, and when you do your homework, you will get incredible costumes for a lot less money and effort than you ever would have hoped for.

Saber Lal Melma, Ex-Gitmo Detainee, Killed In Afghanistan

KABUL, Afghanistan -- NATO and Afghan forces have killed a former Guantanamo detainee who returned to Afghanistan to become a key al-Qaida ally, international officials said Saturday.

The militant's death was a reminder of the risks of trying to end a controversial detention system without letting loose people who will launch attacks on Americans.

Saber Lal Melma, who was released from Guantanamo in 2007, had been organizing attacks in eastern Kunar province and funding insurgent operations, NATO spokesman Capt. Justin Brockhoff said.

A NATO statement described Melma as a "key affiliate of the al-Qaida network" who was in contact with senior al-Qaida members in both Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Another former detainee who joined the al-Qaida franchise in Yemen was killed in a recent U.S. airstrike there.

Troops surrounded Melma's house in Jalalabad city on Friday night and shot him dead when he emerged from the building holding an AK-47 assault rifle. Several other people were detained, NATO said.

A guard at the house, Mohammad Gul, said a group of American soldiers scaled the walls of the compound around 11 p.m. and stormed the house, shooting Melma in the assault. Three others were detained, Gul said.

Melma joined a long list of detainees believed to have reconnected with al-Qaida. In 2009, the Pentagon said 61, approximately 11 percent, of the detainees released from Guantanamo had rejoined the fight. Experts have questioned the validity of that number.

About 520 Guantanamo detainees have been released from custody or transferred to prisons elsewhere in the world.

There are 171 inmates still held at the facility in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Obama signed an executive order in 2009 just after taking office asking for it to be shut down within the year, but it has remained open as the administration has worked to find ways to deal with the inmates.

After the fall of the Taliban, Melma, 49, was given the rank of brigadier general in the Afghan National Army and placed in charge of approximately 600 border security troops in Kunar, according to a file made public by WikiLeaks.

But was suspected of still helping carry out rocket attacks against U.S. troops, and he was captured in August 2002 while attending a meeting with U.S. military officials in Asadabad and transferred to the U.S. prison at Guantanamo Bay in October that year.

While imprisoned at Guantanamo Bay, the U.S. determined he was a "probable facilitator for Al-Qaida members" and was also thought to have links to Pakistan's intelligence service. In 2005, he was described as a "medium risk" to the United States.

He was sent back to Afghanistan in September 2007.

NATO said in a statement that coalition forces have captured or killed more than 40 al-Qaida insurgents in eastern Afghanistan this year.

In June 2010, then CIA Director Leon Panetta said only 50 to 100 al-Qaida operatives continued to operate inside Afghanistan. It's not clear if Panetta was referring to commanders or foot soldiers.

In Kabul, meanwhile, a political standoff over the makeup of the legislature continued as police escorted a handful of new lawmakers into parliament despite protests from sitting parliamentarians that the new group is illegitimate.

In the southern city of Kandahar, officials said NATO forces killed a child and a shopkeeper who were caught up in a firefight between a military patrol and a gunman.

NATO said one of its service members was killed in an insurgent attack on Saturday in southern Afghanistan but not provide details.

The Danish military said one of its soldiers was killed in a roadside bomb that exploded as a foot patrol was moving past in southern Afghanistan's volatile Helmand province, but it was not immediately clear if that announcement referred to the same attack.

Swimming pool designs for maximum ... - Home Improvement Centers

The first thing you need to follow when your pool is to design the intended use. If you want to do round swimming, physical therapy, exercise, entertain your guests, let the children have fun, or to impress your neighbors? Finally, you want a pool for a reason or a variety of reasons to improve your life. A pool planned use has probably the greatest impact on the way and manner it should be designed, and therefore the needs and desires, which aims to meet your pool should be identified very early in the development process. It is also useful to help the main functions of the pool, limit your design decisions to recognize. The following sections we go over some of the most popular services have a pool of people get, and the swimming pool have a design like this.

Fun & leisure time:

The most common motive for obtaining is the swimming pool for fun and leisure. A garden pool is a great place to have fun with the children to cool during the summer, and throw around some inflatable toys. This is your only reason for the request, a pool, then the simplest designs will suffice the least expensive pool. If your budget is large, then you can in some luxury, but otherwise to invest an over ground pool or a flat hotels would be enough for your needs. A pool at a constant depth of 4 feet is sufficiently deep, in order to splash and the occasional round in swimming, but also flat enough to provide security for the whole family.

Exercise:

If you want to use your pool for some serious exercise, the dimensions of your pool must more critical consideration. Round is swimming in a pool of at least 25 metres long and 3.5 feet deep, with typical lengths form 25-40 feet recommended. There are also special round, which are relatively very narrow and therefore fit into restricted areas. Water aerobics need some more depth to touch down. Typically a section of the pool, which is on from 5 6 meters deep enough for this purpose.

Another option for swimmers is the swimming Spa, which usually no more than about 12 meters long, a strong current, against swimming can generate a small pool. You can then swim against the current, while still available. Their small size makes installing the indoor swim spas also a very viable option in many cases.

Parties and entertaining guests:

If pool parties are in your future, you need a few other design issues to think about. These concern in particular the landscaping and the design of the area around the pool. You can surround a patio pool or a deck, add a pool house, a Pavilion, an outdoor bar, furniture, etc. You can also the pool itself for looks, be designed with a stylish form, not only for the functionality. Carefully hidden pool equipment also make more attractive the pool area.

Relaxation:

Spend time in your pool can very relaxing, and the right facilities will make it even more fun. An addition of a spa or Jacuzzi in the pool area is a great addition to the pool itself. Such as swimming pools, they are in the soil and portable, over ground varieties. An in ground Spa is typically connected to the pool filtration and heating systems. And if this is not the case, a portable spa is a much more affordable option.

If you?re going to spend time in addition to the pool sunbathing, make sure to leave the place for it. And if you decide to sign up for the over floor pool diversity, the addition of a level large pool deck makes much sense.
